Our co-founder, the maestra, Nicole Galovski was this year's Keynote speaker at the Women In Film & Video New England 2024!!! Nicole has a career journey so varied, complex and dense that it only makes sense if you know her and see for yourself how much energy and drive she has. Nicole imparted some hard won wisdom to the audience on Wednesday night, and we are so proud of her!! 💌
How Did This Get Made Podcast 🚨
As you know, we love a podcast at Culture House (hint, hint). We love listening to them, making them, and especially appearing on them.
This week co-founder of Culture House Immersive Mikhael Tara Garver really went 10/10 by combining our love of all things podcasting and another great culture house passion: fan-girling. Mikhael appeared on her favorite pod: How Did This Get Made with Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas!!! Listen now: Mikhael on How Did This Get Made
Listen to the full episode to hear about the world of large-scale immersive entertainment, Mikhael's work on the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, and the future of immersive at Culture House. 🔥
Viva Las Vegas 👯♂️
Lastly, I popped over to Vegas from LA to speak at the American Marketing Association's annual Higher Ed Conference to have a fireside chat about the role of institutions in civil society. Nerdy and fun!! Special thanks to the entire AMA team, and most especially the brilliant Kevin Tyler for inviting me to join.
TRENDING: Showing up.. 🙋🏽♀️
As the year winds slowly down, we have the opportunity to make our plans, but also to gather our energy. To use rest to build up our stores of courage, compassion, and purpose. Take a beat to remember that the world is full of opportunity, people who want to help you and encourage you, and you are full of stories that we are all just waiting to hear. It can feel like now is a time to pull back, that the world is on fire and the only antidote is retreating to a safer smaller version of life. We get that… but hope you resist the desire to shrink if or when it arises. Art, community, shared purpose, risk taking, belief in yourself and others has maybe never been more important.
One of the incredible things that Nicole shared in her speech for Women In Film & Video was:
"I encourage you to go after everything you want, even if you never believed it was possible, to build and maintain your relationships, to take big swings in your outreach - I think you’ll be surprised at how many generous people you’ll find… to continue to dream and dare but most of all to do - to do and fail and do again. Because this country and this world need your voice, your eye, your taste, your stories, now more than ever before. "
We hope you take these words to heart. Reflect on them over the weekend and during the holiday week.. And then hard launch into whatever it is for you that’s next. Need some company? DM, follow us, email esme@culture.house and tell us what you are up to or just that you need a hang. We're here.
In 2025 we will be launching a few new goodies for the gang, including some more pearls of wisdom in production from Nicole in a producer/production focused newsletter! Stay tuned.
