Kicking off AAPI month with our faves & bffs
Welcome to May and one of our favorite affinity months.
Welcome back to the group chat babes. Per usual, we had a big week at CH. We have a major immersive announcement coming soon, a new show coming out in 6 days, and I got a haircut. It's been….. a lot.
But it's officially May, which means it's time to say Happy Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month bbs!! As you know, Culture House is an intersectional, multicultural company, which means we have the distinct pleasure of getting to celebrate basically alllll the affinity months, and we love that for us and invite you to join in.
To celebrate, we're sharing a few recent AAPI led movies and shows making our favorites list! Support the content that supports you friends!! Before we get into our list, special shoutouts to the amazing friends we saw in DC last weekend, especially at the Our Voice brunch hosted by the Asian American Journalists Association, The Asian American Foundation & Enfranchisement.
We saw so many people we love and admire and whose work we are eternally grateful for: Brad Jenkins, Icon Katie Phang, Prisca Bae, Naomi Tacuyan Underwood, the Kennedy Center crew, Paulette, Van, Brady, Mackenzie, Questlove, and Marina. xoxoox.

*Special thanks to Jaimie Woo for curation efforts here*
Shogun (Hulu) - Set in Japan in the year 1600, Lord Yoshi Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.
One Day (Netflix) - After spending graduation night together, Emma (Ambika Mod) and Dexter (Leo Woodall) go their separate ways - but their lives remain intertwined.
The Brothers Sun (Netflix) - A brilliant action dramedy about family, obligations, and hidden histories. Go watch Michelle Yeoh be another badass matriarch on screen. Also starring Justin Chien!
Zarna Garg - One in a Billion (Amazon) - Zarna Garg's taking the comedy world by storm with her unapologetically Indian-Immigrant-mom perspective. Follow her hot takes on matchmaking, entitled kids, clueless husbands, mean aunties, and tyrannical mother-in-laws!
And if you’re looking for more AAPI glory - look no further than a few of our recent faves:
Past Lives (Hulu)
Never Have I Ever (Netflix)
Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Disney+)
Hot Mess Holiday (Comedy Central)
38 At The Garden (Max)
