A Plot Is Afoot
Its eclipse season, locked cuts, SXSW plans, and our not so secret plan to build a creative coalition
Happy Friday friends!
For all my astro babes, sending strength and electrolytes as we move through eclipse season with Saturn conjunct Neptune and Mercury retrograde in the mix. Iiiiiits a lot. If that means absolutely nothing to you, this is your sign to go find CHANI your astro bestie, download the app, and get in formation. Navigating the cosmos is a team sport.
Now back to the earthly realm. This week in the world of Culture House Media.
HOUSE NEWS
As always, we are flagging Nicole Galovski’s essential biweekly dispatch, In The Trenches. This week she delivers a true masterclass on navigating the Pressure to Please early in your career. The urge to do anything to lock in the next opportunity. The quiet calculus of wanting to be liked while still wanting to lead. Nicole breaks down the differences between likability and needing constant validation, and the mantra every people pleaser needs in their life.

On the production front, Rae is nearing a fine cut of our next feature documentary, NO COUNTRY FOR MOTHERS. The road to this milestone deserves its own case study. What Rae, Lauren, and the Moms First team have accomplished is nothing short of extraordinary, keep an eye out for Nicole Galovski unpacking the creative and logistical journey in a future edition of In The Trenches.
Finally, Are you heading to SXSW? We are. Our film, FREEDOM AT STAKE, about the legendary squad of women running the Amarillo Reproductive Freedom Alliance, screens on March 12th and March 15th. If you will be in Austin, drop us a line at ESME@culture.house and loop us in on your premieres, panels, parties, and general mischief. We are toying with the idea of a small secret hang, and you know we love a well curated gathering. Cowboy hats & spurs not required, but strongly encouraged.
TRENDING…smells like conspiracy
A plot is absolutely afoot. And yes, it is ours.
Here is the tension we cannot stop thinking about. There is too much content and somehow not enough of what actually feeds us. Endless scroll. Infinite options. Very few stories that leave you feeling more connected, more generous, more invested in the collective project of being human together.
You have heard us say for years that culture is not neutral. What we watch, stream, buy tickets to, and hype in the group chat shapes what gets funded next. It shapes whose careers rise. It shapes the emotional temperature of the country.
So we are ready to take a bigger swing.
If you are working in production, looking for your next gig, or sitting on a script or concept that is smart, funny, wild, slightly unhinged in the best way, and rooted in values like pluralism, interdependence, and fairness, we want to know you. You do not need a polished deck. You do not need a perfect pitch. You just need to be interested in building stories that shape culture for a kinder, more expansive, and morally courageous future.
Think of this as the early whispers of a creative coalition. A soft launch of a clique. A gathering of people who believe entertainment can be joyful and values driven at the same time.
If that sparks something in you, reach out. Let’s see what we can build together.💃🏾
